[29-10-2021] SAXB: The best of both worlds
The new bellows suction pad SAXB adapts optimally to curved workpieces
With the new SAXB series, Schmalz has developed a high-speed bellows suction pad in the premium segment that enables high volume flow rates while optimizing energy consumption. With its flexible suction bell, it adapts optimally to both oiled and complexly shaped components - ideal for use in the automotive industry.
Without efficient processes, the modern automotive industry is not competitive. Because every minute costs, manufacturers are constantly striving to increase output and keep necessary processes such as maintenance and servicing as low as possible. This is especially true for handling solutions, which must be fast, safe and robust in continuous use and must respond to industry-specific conditions: For example, CNC metalworking and laser cutting machines have to be loaded and unloaded, or sheet metal blanks have to be destacked. For these tasks, Schmalz has the particularly durable high-speed suction pad SAX in its product range. If dry or formed sheets are to be handled, the more flexible bellows suction pad SAB is used. The vacuum expert has now combined the advantages of both solutions and launched the high-speed bellows suction pad SAXB on the market, which complements the range upwards as a premium product.
The SAXB is made of the weight-saving material Elastodur (ED-85), which makes it ideal for high-speed applications. It is more robust and significantly more wear-resistant than conventional suction pads in this segment. Among other things, it is resistant to ozone, which occurs primarily in pressing plants. Its bell shape with the flexible sealing lip seals just as well on rough surfaces as on curved ones. This enables the SAXB to hold both oiled and strongly formed sheets securely. At the same time, its geometry prevents thin sheets of 0.5 millimeters from deforming during handling. The specially structured friction surface of the new bellows suction pad ensures maximum holding force at high accelerations.
Because the overall height and block dimensions of the SAXB bellows suction pad are identical to those of the SAB series, the user can easily replace it. Thanks to the modular design and the integrated hexagon socket, the new gripper is also easy and quick to maintain. The SAXB is available in diameters from 20 to 120 millimeters as a mounted suction pad with various connection types and wrench flats for simple and quick installation.
