The SZG-C from SCHUNK, the competence leader in clamping technology and gripping systems, is a highly dynamic gripper for wafer handling. The solar cell gripper handles wafers and ready machined cells safely, precisely, and absolutely gently. Due to its fast place-down function, this lightweight gripper carries out a complete transportation cycle of 550 mm including a quick inspection with a camera system, and back in less than one second. For this reason, it defines a new efficiency class in solar cell manufacturing. New and existing plants can be equipped with this high-speed gripper.
The SZG-C of the innovative family-owned company is available for wafers with an edge dimension of 125 or 156 mm. The suction areas are perfectly distributed and dimensioned, so that the breakage rate is considerably reduced. The gripper also disposes of a high suction force, and even deformed, broken or perforated wafers can be securely handled. In order to diminish contaminations of the working area, the air purge is controlled. Special contact surfaces made of plastic (PEEK), minimize contamination of the blank wafers and avoid blind spots.
Since the suction surfaces are smaller than the individual cells, the complete wafer edges can be reliably inspected with a vision system. Thereby process quality and safety in solar cell manufacturing are increasing. The SZG-C is suitable for all robot and gantry systems of solar cell manufacturing. It is actuated with an air pressure of 1 to 2 bar.
When components of different sizes have to be handled alternately, conventional centric grippers quickly reach their limits. In order to cover the whole spectrum of components, gripper fingers or complete grippers have to be exchanged over and over again. The competence leader in clamping technology and gripping systems, SCHUNK, offers a highly efficient alternative: the innovative Long Stroke Gripper PZH-plus. The belt drive disposes of a long stroke, and the exchange of top jaws or grippers are now obsolete. Its patented multi-tooth guidance and its housing made of high strength aluminum assure a very compact performance. Compared to similar grippers, the PZH-plus provides a 2x higher gripping force. In order to achieve a certain stroke and force, smaller gripper sizes can be chosen. It saves space, lowers the energy consumption and the capital expenditure. Optional, the PZH-plus can be reliably monitored via magnetic field sensors or inductive sensors. The large center bore allows the installation of a camera, a feed-through of material, or the gripping of very long workpieces.
Since the beginning of 2011, the innovative family-owned company will manufacture and distribute the Long Stroke Centric Gripper in four sizes. At a weight between 1.6 and 33 kg, the maximum stroke per finger amounts between 20 and 75 mm, and the gripping forces between 250 and 3.800 N. The gripper is suitable for I.D. and O.D. gripping of workpieces weighing up to 19.3 kg. It is ideal for loading machine tools, or for handling wheel rims, cast blanks or other serial components. The PZH-plus can be replenished by the vast modular system of gripping technology from SCHUNK with various sensors, force-measuring jaws, inductive sensors or magnetic switches. Jaw quick-change systems, universal intermediate jaws and pressure springs, increase the efficiency, flexibility, and process reliability of the handling solutions.
